I’m Nick

I’ve been fascinated by lighting since high school. I started in church and in theatre — and now I’m here: designing, programming, and building shows in churches, theatres, studios, and ballrooms around the country.

To me, production is making the most impactful, beautiful, effective moments I can. Beautiful moments aren’t restricted to certain times of day or parts of the world — we can create them anywhere, because they exist everywhere.

I love this work. It’s a new and interesting challenge every day, and it’s a great privilege to be part of someone else’s creative process — helping people achieve their creative goals is one of the best parts of the job. I don’t think you can ever know everything about any subject; I’ll never be a 100% expert on lighting design, but I don’t have to stop learning or trying new styles. Each one is just another tool in the toolbox.

I’m the Production Director at Bell Shoals Church and an MFA candidate at the University of Memphis — and someday, I’d love to teach this stuff. For now: cool shows, hard challenges, impactful moments.
